A Time to Talk

I memorized this poem for school. I want to be a farmer when I grow up so I like this poem.

My Summer Vacation

On July 6, 2009, my cousins, Grandma, and I watched Ice Age 3. We were going to go hiking but the weather was bad. The movie was about dinosaurs.

On July 7, my family and I went hiking in Glacier National Park. We saw a mule deer walk by. We also saw chipmunks and squirrels. We saw waterfalls and mountains. When we drove back, there was a rainbow.

On July 9, we had a boat ride. We ate snacks and I got to drive. The weather was not so good. That night we had a sleepover with my cousins.

On another day, we went to a water park. After that we had my birthday party. I got a pocket knife. The next day was Daniel's birthday.

We went to see a play. The play was a combination of Dr. Seuss books. My favorite part was Horton Hears a Who.

On July 17, we went to a bison range. We saw deer, antelope, elk, and bison. The bison were huge.

I did lots of other things too. I'll write more later.

Money

If I could choose one thing to use for money, I would choose gold because it is rare to get and it won't melt or rip. But people would fight for it. So I want magnets with my face on them to be money.

Sushi

I like sushi. Sushi is made of rice. One of my favorite kind of sushi is rice with seaweed around it with salmon eggs on top. In Japanese, it's called ikura maki. Ikura means salmon eggs and maki means roll. Some sushi stores have a counter that goes round and round with food on it. You have to choose fast because it might leave.

A Tragic Story

This is a poem that I memorized. It is about a sage who tries to move his pigtail from his back to his front. He could not do it.

Cliff Dwellings Picture

My dad found a cool way to make a picture of Indian houses in cliffs. I made one.

First I drew a purple line with lots of right angles across the page. Then I colored in the area below the line with pastels and rubbed it with my finger. I did the same thing above it, but blue. After that, I colored black for night above the buildings. Finally, I drew little windows and ladders with a permanent marker.

Here are some pictures.

Here is my sister's picture.

Home-Made Garbage Can

I didn't used to have anywhere to throw away garbage in my room so I made my own garbage can. Here's how you do it with recycled materials.

What You Need
  • A clean, empty milk carton
  • Scissors
  • A rubber band
  • Tape
  • A hole punch
  • Two paper clips
  • Paper and crayons if you want to decorate it
What You Do
  1. Cut out the bottom of the milk carton, leaving one side attached.
  2. Tape the paper clips on opposite sides of the milk carton near the bottom.
  3. Strap the rubber band to the clips across the bottom of the carton to keep the bottom closed.
  4. Punch holes through opposite sides of the milk carton near the top.
  5. Tie string through the holes to hang the garbage can. (I sleep on the top bunk so I need my garbage can up high.)
  6. If you want to, color and tape paper to the garbage can.
You can empty the garbage can from the bottom by unhooking the rubber band. Here are some pictures.
